Andie & Duckie
Commissions - June 2011
This was my first use of a light-box as a table top. The form is so simple and the plumbing parts are so masculine. I wanted to soften it up and add a pop, so I decided to stain the white oak pink. The name is a reference to Pretty in Pink (an 80s movie from my childhood). It’s personal, in some sense, because the story is about a boy and girl who are from opposite sides of the tracks and end up going to the prom together. My wife and I grew up on opposite sides of the tracks and we went to the prom together, too. *See “In Your Eyes”
